Langtang Valley Trek - 10 Days
Overview
Why Choose the Langtang Valley Trek?
The Langtang Valley Trek is often described as one of Nepal’s most fulfilling short treks. The route traverses through Langtang National Park, a sanctuary of diverse flora, fauna, and rare wildlife. Along the way, trekkers walk through rhododendron and bamboo forests, charming Tamang villages, high-altitude meadows, and finally reach Kyanjin Gompa, a picturesque village surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks.
This trek offers the chance to spot elusive wildlife such as red pandas, musk deer, Himalayan monkeys, Pika, and the colorful Danphe (Nepal’s national bird). Beyond the natural wonders, you’ll also immerse yourself in the traditions, monasteries, and warm hospitality of the Tamang people.
Journey Overview
Your Langtang Valley trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the region. From here, the trail gradually ascends through lush forests and riverside paths to Lama Hotel, before climbing to Ghoda Tabela, where panoramic mountain vistas unfold.
Continuing through the valley, you’ll reach Langtang Village, which has been beautifully rebuilt since the 2015 earthquake. The route then leads to Kyanjin Gompa, the spiritual and cultural highlight of the trek. Here, you can explore the ancient monastery, taste locally made yak cheese, visit charming bakeries, and hike up to viewpoints such as Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri for breathtaking sunrise panoramas of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.
